The Ford Probe was manufactured by Ford Motor Company in collaboration with Mazda. The first-generation Probe was a product of the joint venture between Ford and Mazda called AutoAlliance International. Although it was a Ford model, it carried many Mazda parts and was based on the Mazda GD platform. The second-generation Probe was designed by a team led by Mimi Vandermolen, who led the interior design of the 1986 Ford Taurus.
