Dodge Viper Headlights
The original Dodge Viper’s headlights were sourced from BMW. Roy Sjoberg, the chief engineer of the original Viper team, revealed in an interview with YouTuber Four Eyes that the headlights for the first-generation Dodge Viper were originally developed for BMW by General Electric (GE) at the cost of the latter company. These units were intended for the BMW Z1, but BMW ultimately passed on them, opting instead for a different design. GE had already developed the headlights and all their associated tooling, so it needed to find a buyer, and that buyer ended up being Chrysler.
This decision saved the Viper team a significant amount of money, as GE had already invested a substantial sum in the headlights and their associated tooling.
