Location of the Oil Filter on a Toyota Highlander
The oil filter on a Toyota Highlander is located in the front and to the right of the engine under the hood. To access the oil filter, you will need to remove a plastic trim piece from behind the bumper. Once you remove the plastic panel, you should be able to see and get a tool on the oil filter, which is located part way up and near the center of the engine bay (from the bottom).
It’s important to replace the oil filter each time you’re swapping out the oil, which should be done every 3,000 miles with conventional oil or around 5,000 miles with synthetic oil.
Please note that the oil filter on a Toyota Highlander is a cartridge filter, not a spin-on filter. You may need a special filter wrench to remove the filter housing.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
