Honda Clarity Production and Discontinuation
The Honda Clarity is a line of alternative fuel vehicles produced by Honda. It includes the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, Clarity Fuel Cell, and Clarity Electric models. The Clarity project began in 2008 with the introduction of the hydrogen fuel-cell Honda FCX Clarity, followed by the Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid models in 2017.
However, Honda has recently discontinued the Clarity lineup. The Clarity Electric was dropped in 2020, and production of the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid and Clarity Fuel Cell models ended in August 2021. The decision to discontinue the Clarity models was influenced by factors such as low sales and Honda’s strategic goal to go 100% zero emissions by 2040.
It’s worth noting that the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid offered an impressive electric-only range of up to 47 miles (76 km). The Clarity Fuel Cell, on the other hand, provided a longer range compared to its predecessor, the FCX Clarity, and featured improved cabin space.
In conclusion, Honda started making the Clarity lineup in 2008 with the introduction of the Honda FCX Clarity. However, production of the Clarity models has been discontinued as of August 2021.
