Dodge Version of the LeBaron
The Dodge version of the Chrysler LeBaron was the Dodge 400. The Dodge 400 was closely related to the Chrysler LeBaron and was introduced in late 1981 as a 1982 model. It started as a two-door coupe, with a four-door sedan coming a few months later. Additionally, a wagon version was added to the LeBaron line, closely resembling the Reliant and Aries wagons with standard Town & Country woodgrain-plastic siding and moldings. However, there was no wagon version for the Dodge 400.
The Dodge 400 was also given an optional ‘Town & Country’ appearance package, mimicking the wagon’s standard look and including the 2.6-liter Mitsubishi motor. The Dodge 400 was a significant part of the convertible revolution in the mid-1980s and played a role in bringing Chrysler back from the brink.
