The Chevy Bolt EV uses an SAE J1772 / CCS2 connector, which is the standard 5-pin plug used to charge electric vehicles. This connector allows the Bolt EV to plug in at public Level 2 stations and receive a charging boost from DC fast chargers.

Can you plug a J1772 into a CCS port?
This adapter is only required in countries where Tesla vehicles have the proprietary Tesla plug. Because the J1772 plug does not have the DC pins, the adapter does not have the DC pins, and therefore this adapter cannot be used with a CCS charging station.
Is J1772 same as CCS?
Combined Charging System
The CCS connector uses the SAE J1772 charging inlet and adds two more pins below. It “combines” the SAE J1772 connector with the high speed charging pins, which is how it got its name.
Can a Chevy Bolt use a J1772 charger?
Yes, the Chevy Volt charges from the same standard J1772 connector as the Nissan Leaf. Any charger that works on one should work just as well on the other.
Is Chevy Bolt a J1772 EV?
The Bolt EUV can charge through the SAE J1772 connector using electric vehicle supply equipment connected to an AC power supply. A portable AC EVSE (made by Webasto) is included that can operate at Level 1 (8 or 12 amps) using the NEMA 5-15 dongle and Level 2 (32 amps) using the NEMA 14-50 dongle.
What type of connector does a Chevy Bolt use?
Electric range
At a rate of up to 55 kW, drivers can charge their Bolt up to 80% in about 1 hour. Like the Chevy Spark EV and Volt, the Bolt uses the SAE Combined Charging Connector (CCS) for Level 3 DC fast charge.
Does the Chevy Bolt come with a 240v charger?
Every Chevy Bolt comes with a Level 1 120-volt portable charging cord.
Does Chevy Bolt use CCS?
The Bolt EV uses the SAE Combined Charging Standard (CCS) Combo connector for DC fast charging.
Does Bolt use CHAdeMO?
The Chevrolet Bolt has CCS for rapid charging just like basically every car (except Tesla in North America). Even newer Nissan EVs like the Ariya come with CCS instead of CHAdeMO.
Is the Chevy Bolt a PHEV?
The key difference is that the discontinued Chevy Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), whereas the Chevy Bolt is a battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV).
What is the difference between J1772 and CHAdeMO?
The J1772 is the most common type of connector used for Level 2 charging in North America. It’s a smaller, simpler connector that’s compatible with most EV models. CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, on the other hand, are primarily used for fast charging and NACS is a hybrid supporting both level 2 and DC fast charging.
