Replacement of Toyota Previa
The Toyota Previa, also known as the Estima in Japan and the Tarago in Australia, was replaced by the Toyota Sienna in the United States in 1997.
The Toyota Sienna was introduced as a more traditionally designed, front-wheel-drive minivan, replacing the unique mid-engined Previa. The Sienna was meant to be a serious competitor to the dominant Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan.
The Sienna offered a more balanced design for better handling and a more comfortable ride compared to the Previa. It featured a front-wheel-drive layout and a more conventional engine placement, departing from the mid-engine structure of the Previa.
The Sienna’s introduction marked the end of the Previa’s run in the United States, although the Previa continued to be produced in Japan and Australia after 1997.
In summary, the Toyota Sienna replaced the Toyota Previa in the United States in 1997, offering a more traditional design and front-wheel-drive layout compared to the unique mid-engined structure of the Previa [[10]].

Is Toyota Previa a reliable car?
I have owned 2 Previa’s and I put 180,000 miles on the first one and more than 200,000 on the second one which I still drive every day. Both were extremely reliable and other than a battery, brakes, tires and oil changes, you’ll never have to worry about anything. I wish they still made them today.
