The “P” Button on Toyota Prius
The “P” button in a Toyota Prius is used to engage the parking gear. When the car is stopped, the parking brake is applied, and the “P” button is pressed, the car is put into the parking position, ensuring that it remains stationary. This is a standard feature in most automatic transmission vehicles, including the Toyota Prius.

The auto parking brake will automatically engage when you put your vehicle in park and disengages when you shift into gear. If you want to manually set the parking brake, you just need to press the “P” button next to the shift knob (see video). The light will illuminate red when the feature is activated.
