Highway Assist
The Dodge Hornet comes equipped with Highway Assist, which is an available driver assistance feature that allows for partial autonomous driving capabilities on highways and main roads. Highway Assist offers Lane Centering, Cornering Assistance, and Adaptive Cruise Control functions to help drivers maintain their lane position and a set speed.
When Highway Assist is activated, the system uses forward facing cameras and radar sensors to read traffic signs and lane markings. It is then able to steer and help center the vehicle in its lane while also controlling the acceleration and braking to maintain a set following distance behind the vehicle ahead. The driver must keep their hands on the steering wheel, be ready to take control at any time, and is still responsible for the overall control of the vehicle.
Highway Assist allows the Hornet to achieve a Level 2 level of autonomous driving, providing assistance to the driver but requiring that they remain engaged and ready to intervene. It aims to make long highway drives less fatiguing.
