The Ford C-Max is based on the European gasoline- and diesel-powered versions of the vehicle. It was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and early European models included 5 seats, with 7-seat models entering the market at the end of 2010. The C-Max Hybrid and C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid, which replaced the Ford Escape Hybrid and Mercury Mariner Hybrid, are also based on the European versions of the C-Max.
