The Consul Classic was produced from August 1961 to March 1963, followed by the Consul Corsair from 1963 to 1970. The Consul Capri, a 2-door coupe version of the Classic, was available from 1961 to 1964. The Ford Consul Cortina, launched in 1962, was a popular and successful model that was later known simply as the Cortina.
