It was also sold under the Plymouth brand as the Plymouth Champ and Plymouth Colt. The Colt initially started as a rebadged variant of the rear-wheel drive Galant and Lancer families before shifting to the smaller front-wheel drive Mitsubishi Mirage subcompacts in 1979. The Dodge Colt spanned five generations and was discontinued after the 1994 model year in favor of the domestically-produced Dodge/Plymouth Neon.
