Edsel Ford, the only son of Henry Ford, died in 1943 at Gaukler Point. His wife, Eleanor, continued to live there until her death in 1976. As per her wish, the property was opened to the public and is now known as the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House. The house is located on 87 acres of land and features an excellent collection of the Fords’ original antiques and art. It also hosts tours, classes, lectures, and special events. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
