Engine in the Acura SLX
The Acura SLX had two different engine options over its production run from 1996 to 1999:
The 1996-1997 SLX came with a 3.2-liter V6 gasoline engine that produced 190 hp. This engine was replaced in 1998 by a 3.5-liter dual overhead cam V6 engine that produced 215 hp.
Both engines were sourced from Honda and provided power to either a 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission depending on the year. The 3.5-liter V6 became the sole engine option from 1998-1999.
The SLX was essentially a rebadged version of the Isuzu Trooper sold in the United States, with some minor styling tweaks. Both the 3.2-liter and 3.5-liter engines provided adequate power for the mid-size SUV.
