Acura RL All-Wheel Drive
The Acura RL is equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD). The Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system is featured in the Acura RL, providing improved handling and traction control. This system integrates active differentials with the all-wheel drive system to enhance handling, similar to the “ATTS” system featured on the 1997 Honda Prelude SH.
The Acura RL’s SH-AWD was unique among Acura models at the time of its introduction, and it continuously directs engine power to match weight distribution, traction, and driver input, delivering seamless power distribution.
In addition, the Acura RL is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 300 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque, mated to Acura’s Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission and SH-AWD 2.0, which is quicker, more responsive, and better at handling twisties.
The Acura RL’s SH-AWD system increases turning precision by distributing engine torque between all four wheels, and it is the only system that can accelerate the outside rear wheel in a turn, enhancing cornering and maneuverability.
