Ford Prefect’s Stuck on Earth
Ford Prefect, a character from “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” got stuck on Earth while doing research for the guide. He is not actually human and hails from a small planet near Betelgeuse, contrary to his claims of being from Guildford. Ford had taken great care to blend into Earth society, but he had “skimped a bit on his preparatory research” and mistakenly thought that the name “Ford Prefect” would be inconspicuous. In reality, the Ford Prefect was a popular British car manufactured in the 1950s.
When Ford first arrived on Earth, he almost got run over while attempting to greet a blue Ford Prefect. Fortunately, he was saved by Arthur Dent, and that’s how they met. Ford has been stranded on Earth for almost 15 years, posing as an out-of-work actor. He managed to leave Earth shortly before it was destroyed by hitching a lift on a Vogon ship.
