Toyota Hilux Differential
Yes, the Toyota Hilux is equipped with a differential. Specifically, all models of the new Toyota Hilux are equipped with Rear Differential Lock. This feature assists in providing extra traction and control needed to keep moving, especially on slippery surfaces. Additionally, the Australian Hilux has been designed with a Limited Slip Differential (LSD), which contributes to its reliability and performance in tough conditions.
The presence of the rear differential lock and limited slip differential in the Toyota Hilux ensures that the vehicle is well-equipped to handle challenging terrains and provide the necessary traction for smooth movement.

Does Toyota Hilux have limited slip differential?
the hilux 4×4 came with a rear LSD they crop up pretty regularly. they arnt really tight enough for one wheel up in the air sort of abuse you give them off roading but they certianly LSD quite well on blacktop.
How does Hilux diff lock work?
Selectable Diff Locker
This essentially locks all the gears together, providing 50/50 drive to each side, which means even if you are 4WDing and a tyre goes in the air, the tyre on the ground will still have drive and you can continue moving forward.
Does the HiLux have diff lock?
Why you need it: All HiLux 4×4 variants come with a standard rear diff locker, but nothing compares to twin lockers.
Do 4WD trucks have 2 differentials?
4WD differentials transfer the same amount of torque to all four wheels to make them move at the same time. Conversely, AWD supplies differing amounts of torque to each tire. 4WD normally has 2 differentials, while AWD can have up to three.
How do you turn on a HiLux diff lock?
Axle. So how do i engage my diff lock you will see there are three buttons next to your gear. Selector. The middle one is the diff lock. Button you need to press that button for about a second.
What does a hilux diff drop do?
Corrects the driveshaft and CV joint angle and reduces stresses placed on the CV, helping to avoid unnecessary wear and premature failure. Low profile design gives a factory look and improved clearance.
What is the difference between a differential and a limited slip differential?
The main difference encountered in limited slip differential vs open differential is that the latter transfers more power to the less resisting wheel. Meanwhile, the limited-slip differential transmits power to the wheel with the most traction. The differences between these differential systems don’t end here.
Are HiLux diffs interchangeable?
Yes Hilux diffs are identified as a G series. Non IRS G series centres are interchangeable, The IRS centre carriers can be fitted with some modifications.
