Ford Transit and Aluminum Body
The Ford Transit does not currently have an aluminum body. The Transit, as it stands, does not have enough contours to keep the aluminum from wobbling all over the place. It would require a body redesign and even thicker gauge aluminum sheets than the F150.
The Ford F-150 and Super Duty models are known for their aluminum bodies, but the Ford Transit does not fall into this category. The newest members of the aluminum-bodied Ford family include the all-new 2017 Super Duty pickups, and the F-150 has a high-strength, military-grade aluminum body, but this does not extend to the Ford Transit .
It’s important to note that the Ford Transit does not currently have an aluminum body, and it seems that there are specific design and structural considerations that would need to be addressed for such a change to take place.
