Chevrolet Vega SS
Chevrolet did not produce a specific model called the “Vega SS.” However, there were performance-oriented versions of the Vega, such as the Vega GT, which offered a GT Performance Package for increased power and torque. The GT model had a decent amount of speed while maintaining good fuel economy, achieving around 22 miles per gallon.
Additionally, there were limited-production versions of the Chevrolet Vega, such as the Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. This was a higher-performance model with a unique all-aluminum inline-four engine and a DOHC cylinder head designed by British company Cosworth Engineering. Only 3,508 of these cars were made, and they were priced nearly double that of a base Vega and only $900 below the 1975 Chevrolet Corvette.
While there were no official “SS” models, the Vega was popular for modifications, and some custom V8 conversions were done, although Chevrolet did not offer a factory V8 option for the Vega.
